My Bolga Baskets

Welcome to our store. We carry many beautiful Fair Trade African Bolga baskets from Ghana, West Africa. We also carry other Fair Trade African baskets from South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Uganda. We invite you to browse through our store and shop with confidence. In addition, we adhere to a strict privacy policy that means your information will not be shared, sold, or otherwise distributed. We are a SECURE site. You will see the secure lock icon when you get to the check out page.

Please note: Due to the long holiday weekend, we will not be shipping from Sunday, November 23rd to Saturday, November 29th. We will ship all orders that come in during this time period on Monday, December 1st. We will send tracking information once your order is ready to go. It takes about 5-6 business days for your order to reach the west coast of the USA from here and about 3-4 business days to reach the east coast. Your order will reach you in plenty of time for Christmas. Due to the recent announcement from DHL that they are stopping operations here in the USA, we will be using UPS or Fed Ex ground service as of December 1st. Don't know what to give this year? Not sure of the color or style basket to give? How about one of our gift cards available this Christmas season. You will see them offered in various amounts under gift cards. The recipient will get a coupon code to use at checkout for the amount you specify.

If you are ordering a basket for a gift, please note that in the special instructions section at checkout. We will be glad to put in a little gift card with a short note and a bow at no charge. If you would like your basket gift wrapped, we now offer gift wrapping for a $5.00 fee per basket.

We carry other African baskets that are not always shown on our website such Kenya beaded bowls and nested baskets, Swaziland sisal baskets and many types of beautiful Ukhamba baskets from South Africa. If you are interested in seeing them, please email us. We will be glad to send photos.

We are a proud member of the Fair Trade Federation . Fair Trade means that the weavers get paid fairly for the work they do. Each Bolga basket will come with a flyer explaining more about the Fair Trade Federation and how they help the weavers. It also gives more details about the basket weaving process from start to finish. We also send a portion of our sales back to Africa to further help the African people. We are also a member of the Co-op America group. Their mission is to create a socially just and environmentally sustainable society.

Bolga baskets are very labor intensive. It takes about 3 days to make one of these beautiful, durable baskets. The weavers take the local grass (elephant grass) through many stages before the basket is finished. Then they take the baskets and have the braided leather handles put on. We also carry many types of Bolga baskets from tote baskets and shoppers to bread baskets and fans! Each is a work of art you will treasure for years to come.

We accept Paypal or credit cards via phone (click on "print and call" at check out). Don't have a Paypal account? We can still take your credit card payment through Paypal without having to set up a Paypal account. Just click on, "don't have a Paypal account" when you are ready to pay and you will then be able to put in your credit card information. Paypal works as a credit card merchant. Its fast, safe and secure. Or if you prefer, you can call in your order and we will process your credit card over the phone. We also take checks (7 day hold to clear) or money orders. We do ship internationally, however, please email for a quote. If you agree with the quote, then we will send you an invoice via Paypal. The shipping prices in checkout are for USA shipping. We ship either UPS or Fed Ex ground and we offer USPS parcel post if you prefer.
